History
The President's Council at Harding University has provided nearly 40 years of notable service to the University. Bringing energy and generosity to the task, Council members have a distinguished record of diligent service and outstanding support. As the University faces the new millennium, the time is ripe for renewal and growth as the Council expands its influence to serve Harding University.
Membership
The President's Council includes a select group of men and women who have committed themselves to supporting and advancing the mission of Harding University. Serve Harding in these activities:
- Functioning as goodwill ambassadors
- Furnishing advice and counsel on matters of strategic importance
- Contributing financial support and leadership, especially to the President's Council Scholarship Fund
- Assisting in student recruitment and job placement
- Identifying new Council prospects and working with Advancement staff in the recruitment process.
The council includes people who are committed to the mission of Harding University: to integrate faith, learning and living -- educating for eternity. From a wide geographical distribution, the University seeks, additional men and women for Council membership who are members of the church of Christ. Council members demonstrate their interest in advancing the cause of Christian education and its potential impact on the church through their service to Harding University.
Regional Councils
One of the Council's new initiatives is the formation of regional councils. Advancement Office personnel will work with one specific region. Choosing chairs for each region will facilitate opportunities for adding new members and planning regional meeting and activities.
President's Council Scholarship Fund
The President's Council Scholarship Fund assists students with a variety of financial needs, including academic, athletic, departmental and performance-related scholarships. With more than 80 percent of Harding's students requiring some form of financial assistance, this scholarship fund addresses Harding's primary commitment to the recruitment of quality students.
