BCMB Student Recognized: BCMB major, Brett Keller ('08), has been recognized by the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. He is one of 65 scholars selected from among 585 candidates nominated by 280 colleges and universities. Scholars were selected by 18 independent selection panels on the basis of leadership potential, intellectual capability, and likelihood of “making a difference.” The Truman Scholarship Foundation was established by Congress in 1975 as the federal memorial to the 33rd president. There have been 2,480 Truman scholars elected since the first awards in 1977. Brett is the first Truman Scholar from Harding and the only Arkansas recipient in 2007. Biology Senior Seminar MVP Awarded: The MVP Award was presented to Hunter Valls ('07) for his senior seminar presentation entitled "Intermittent Hypoxia in eggs of the spotted salamander." Hunter and Dr. Mills have submitted this work for publication in the Journal of Experimental Biology.Harding Students Honored: Many Harding students attended the Arkansas INBRE Fall 2006-Undergraduate Research Conference held on the University of Arkansas' Fayetteville campus in November, 2006. Harding was among 22 colleges and universities represented. The work of three HU students was recognized at the conference during the competitive poster session in which students presented their own and collaborative research. From left:
