Helping Outreach Program for Evangelism
HOPE is a two year international missionary apprentice opportunity.
The purpose of HOPE is to provide an opportunity for both men and women to receive on-the-field training and experience in sharing Christ, spiritual nurturing and church planting. The anticipated end results will be (1) a sense of responsibility as priests of God, (2) a strong commitment and ability to share Christ with the lost everywhere, (3) the opportunity to assess and develop capacities and motivations for long-term mission service and (4) a valuable contribution to on-going efforts as missionaries on the field.
HOPE is not just a program for Bible majors or for Harding students. To participate in HOPE, a college degree–while not required–is strongly recommended. In any event, each participant must have completed at least two years of college or be at least 25 years old.
Apprentices will go to places that are mutually approved by them and the HOPE committee. Every international site must have good supervision, safety, and the prospect of a productive effort in order to receive HOPE workers.
Gordon Hogan, Missionary-in-Residence at Harding University serves as Director and Dwight Smith of the College Church of Christ serves as Co-Director. Information and applications can be obtained directly from the Director, Room 139, McInteer Bible and Mission Center, Harding University or by mail at Harding University, P.O. Box 12280, Searcy, AR 72149.
