Faculty Spotlight:

September 2012

This month, we would like to spotlight all faculty members and friends who participated in the 2012 Technology Showcase. Below is a video highlighting meaningful integration of technology: At the second Faculty Education Technology Showcase, held September 25, twelve Harding faculty members from various disciplines shared their use of technology in teaching and learning with the campus community through their interactive poster session presentations. Faculty members shared their ideas, experiences, and fielded questions regarding their unique uses of technology in their courses. Dr. Clif Mims of the University of Memphis was a guest presenter at the showcase and conducted a workshop for faculty the following day.

June 2012

This month, we showcase Dr. Wendy Ellis of the College of Education and her use of multimedia to enhance her coursework.

Faculty perspective:

Dr. Wendy Ellis Director of Reading Assistant Professor of Education In addition to her duties as director, Wendy teaches both undergraduate and graduate level reading courses for the College of Education. Rather than solely relying on traditional methods of student assessment, Wendy integrates technology to actively involve her students in the learning process. During the fall and spring semesters, her students produced reading projects with technologies ranging from Glogster to Animoto.

Colloquium Series:

February 2013

Dr. Reet Cronk kicked off the Spring 2013 Colloquium Series with an engaging look at gamification. For the past four semesters, Dr. Cronk has implemented a point reward system to encourage class discussion and participation. By surveying her students at the end of each semester, she has that there is a positive correlation between using the reward system and how much students participate in class.
