2010 Summer Bible course schedule
PLEASE NOTE: No student is eligible to attend Harding University in Greece who is currently on academic, chapel or disciplinary probation on the Searcy campus. Any student who has applied and/or been accepted will automatically become ineligible if place on any type of probation up until time to depart. Such individuals will be placed on a waiting list and may go only if there are openings after probation has been removed. In addition, a student must have an overall 2.0 GPA.
BHIS 347- Field Work (1) TBA
Biblical Archeology Field Work. The student will be guided through the basics of archaeological theory and practice, including excavation and analysis of finds. In addition the student will be guided in the interpretation of the data as they relate to the biblical periods.
BHIS 348 – Archaeology and Geography of Israel (3) TBA
A course emphasizing the historical, cultural, geographical and religious contexts of events in the Old and New Testaments and in the Inter-testamental period.
BMIN 325 – Intro to Preaching (3) TBA
An introduction to the philosophies of preaching, what a sermon is, types of messages, sermon design and development, illustrating and applying the message, and sermon delivery. A concurrent laboratory is required.
BNEW 313 – Paul (2 or 3) TBA
The figure of Paul in the New Testament, as apostle, Roman citizen, missionary. Selected passages from Acts of the Apostles and Paul’s letters are examined. Background material relating to his apostleship to the Gentiles is examined in Europe and the Middle East.
BYFE 338 - Christian Home (2) TBA
The Christian approach to selecting a marriage partner and living with that partner in permanent monogamy. The biblical principles bearing upon intra-family relationships. The family as an instrument of Christian service.
BHIS 340 - Church History 1 (2 or 3) TBA
The history of the church, from the close of the apostolic age to the present.
BOLD 304 – Israelite History (Joshua through Esther) (2-3) TBA
A study of Israel’s attempt to walk in covenant with God from selected passages of the historical books ranging from Joshua’s conquest of Canaan through the return of Jews from Babylonian exile.
GRK 271 – Gospel of John (in Greek) (3) TBA
Reading of the Greek text, further study of grammar and vocabulary, and exegesis of selected passages.
BIOL 111 – General Biology [Online] (3) TBA
A lecture course in selected principles of biology for students not majoring in natural sciences. Topics will be chosen from the following: cellular chemistry, cell structure and function, human structure and function, human genetics, infectious disease, molecular genetics, and ethical issues related to the discovery and use of modern genetic technology.
BIOL 113 - Human Structure and Function [online] (3) TBA
Structure and function of selected human organ systems and the cellular mechanisms. Designed for majors in communication disorders, dietetics, nursing, physical education, and others who need an introduction to human anatomy and physiology. Satisfies the liberal arts requirement in biology.
BIOL 250 - Environmental Science [online] (3) TBA
Biological knowledge of the structure and function of ecosystems; human influence on the environment. Satisfies 3 credits of the global literacy requirement.
BMIS 280 - World Christian [online] (2 or 3) TBA
This introductory missions course focuses on a key questions about God, His world and our mission in order to foster a world Christian mindset and values. This course established the foundation for subsequent missions courses. Note: The 3-hour option is recommended for those students taking the course for Global Literacy.
