Entrance into the masters-level graduate business program at Harding University is selective. With a large pool of applicants and limited openings, it is important that you understand the requirements and the process for applying to the MBA program.
We seek candidates who are academically strong, hold an undergraduate degree with GPA of 3.0 or higher, and who will not only benefit from, but also contribute to the program. Undergraduate study in business is not required for admission. However, students with an undergraduate degree in a business topic will find their track to the MBA to be one of shorter duration. Additionally, work experience is not required for admission to the program, but will strengthen most applications.
In reviewing an application and the accompanying essays from the potential student, many different indicators of performance are evaluated, including undergraduate and graduate records, work history, recommendation letters and extracurricular activities. Additionally, an attempt is made to see if there is congruence between the program's goals and the applicant's interests, as well as an attempt to determine student motivation for seeking the degree.
Requirements for acceptance to the MBA program:
GMAT (target score of 500) or GRE (target score of 940) is required unless the applicant has one of the following:
- A Cumulative Bachelor Degree GPA of 3.5 with less than 5 years full-time work experience.
- A Cumulative Bachelor Degree GPA of 3.0 with 5 years full-time work experience.
¨ 3.0 GPA
A baccalaureate degree (in any major) from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Persons with less than a 3.0 GPA may be considered for provisional admission.
¨ Readiness Courses
To be selected for admission, it is not a requirement that you hold a bachelor's degree in business. However, in order to be prepared for the Accelerated MBA or Concentrated MBA programs, each student should have completed at least one course in each of these major areas: accounting, financial management and statistics. These courses will provide students with the skills necessary to succeed at the graduate level. If you do not hold your bachelor's degree in business and have not had these readiness courses, they are available for purchase through Harding University. They are delivered online and satisfy the requirement for the MBA program. Please speak with a graduate adviser to determine placement within these courses.
¨ TOEFL Score (International Students only)
Harding University requires all international applicants for whom English is not the first language or who have not graduated from an American university to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). TOEFL results for international students should be 550 PBT, 213 CBT or 80 iBT minimum score (no older than five years) or demonstrated per formance at a U.S. institution of higher learning.
¨ I20 Form (International Students only)
In addition to submitting Graduate Application documents and a TOEFL score, all international students will be required to submit an I20 form before enrollment in classes, which will be sent only after a student has been accepted to the University. All international students will need to supply information regarding their source of funding for the program.
