Fall 2012 Meeting

September 2012

Dear President’s Council Members:

The sights and sounds of Harding’s campus in August and September are annually repeated but never grow old. The joy on students’ faces is palpable as they arrive in Searcy from the summer to unpack their dorm rooms, traverse the front lawn, and reunite with old friends or make new ones. There is nothing like the harmony of thousands of young voices blending together in song on the first day of chapel. Colorful club jerseys dot the student center landscape as upperclassmen aim to impress eager freshmen in advance of club mixers and the club week ritual.

Without your financial support, many young men and women could not afford to participate in this great experience. As a member of Harding’s President’s Council, you are a special partner because of your generosity, energy, encouragement and counsel. Since 1965, the Council has delivered a distinguished record of diligent service and faithful support.

I hope you can join us for the fall President’s Council meeting, slated for Homecoming weekend October 26-27. Homecoming highlights include the Bison Booster Golf Tournament and the annual Black and Gold Banquet on Friday, and the Homecoming musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Saturday’s activities peak at 2 p.m. when the Bison football team faces Great American Conference rival Arkansas Tech in First Security Stadium. A schedule and details of the weekend’s activities can be found at www.harding.edu/homecoming.

I especially want to urge you to participate in the fall President’s Council meeting Saturday starting at 8 a.m. in the American Heritage Center’s Founders Room. President David Burks and the Harding leadership team seek your input to the five-year strategic plan that will be completed in the coming months. We will adjourn at 10 a.m. to allow Council members time to participate in alumni chapel and the myriad of Homecoming activities.

At 12:30 p.m., you are invited to the President’s Council tailgate at our tent at First Security Stadium. A complimentary barbecue will be served for all Council members, and the tent will be open throughout the game for refreshments and to allow members to reconnect with old friends.

To register for the fall meeting, go to www.harding.edu/advancement/PCFallRegistration.html where you will find links to order tickets, the meeting agenda and forms for meeting registration, child care, and the Bison Booster golf tournament.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment and support of Harding’s mission and ministry. I hope to see you at Homecoming!

Warm regards,
