Chapter Grant Recipients
This program was initiated to assist chapters in
financing scholarly projects and activities. For the 2007-08
academic year, the fund will be $5,000. The guidelines are as
follows:
- A fund of $5,000 will supply grants of no more than $250
each to chapters to help finance scholarly projects and activities.
- Application proposals must be sent to the national office
and will be evaluated on the basis of the extent to which they
encourage scholarship and promote the visibility of Alpha Chi
on the campus.
- Applications will be taken annually from August 1 until the
program fund is expended.
- Programs that involve direct payments to student members
will not be funded.
- A chapter will be limited to one grant every two years.

New grants available for honor society collaboration
Alpha Chi's membership in the Association of College Honor Societies offers a new grant opportunity for chapters seeking to develop a local project on the theem of social responsibility. Detailed at (ACHS memo), the program is designed to create collaboration among honor societies on the campus level, a concept that has been a goal of ACHS in recent years. Application deadline is October 15, 2008.

Star Chapter
Recipients
Star Chapters are named each academic
year and are recognized at regional and national conventions.
Any chapter may receive Star Chapter status by meeting each of
the following criteria:
- A minimum of one sponsor and one student delegate must attend
the yearly regional/national convention.
- A minimum of one student presentation must be made at the
regional/national convention.
- At least one Nolle and/or Benedict application must be submitted
each academic year.
- At least one scholarly program must be sponsored on campus
during the academic year.
- New members must be inducted and registered during the academic
year.
- The Annual Chapter Report must be filed with the National
Office by September 1.
Beginning September 1 each year, the National Office will
review the Annual Chapter Reports for chapters that meet the
Star Chapter requirements. Certificates will be presented to
the Star Chapters at the next convention, and a list of the chapters
will be published in the Recorder or Newsletter
and on the Alpha Chi National web site.

Recipients
The President's Cup is a trophy
that travels to the institution receiving the Outstanding Chapter
Award. One chapter every two years is honored; chapters cannot
win the award successively. The President's Cup is presented
to the winning chapter at the national convention.
The Arkansas Iota chapter at Lyon College, Batesville,
Arkansas, won the 2007 President's Cup at the March national
convention, claiming the title of the outstanding chapter in
Alpha Chi for 2005-07. (full story

Selection Criteria (in order of importance)
- Campus activities (lectures, awards, tutorials, discussions,
competitions, etc.)
- Community activities that are academically oriented
- Number of student presentations at conventions
- Number of nominees for Nolle Scholarships and Benedict Fellowships
- Number of student delegates at regional and national conventions
- Number of faculty delegates at regional and national conventions
- Number of articles accepted for publication in the Recorder
President's Cup Selection Procedure:
- In the year of regional conventions, chapters inform regional
presidents of their interest in applying for the award.
- Regions nominate chapters for the award, with each region
allowed one nominee for every 20 chapters in the region. (A region
with 1-20 chapters can have one nominee; a region with 21-40
chapters can have two nominees, etc.).
- Each competition covers chapter activity for the two years
prior to the regional convention, and the year prior to the National
Convention.
- Nominated chapters should submit their completed application*,
which may be in a variety of formats, to the Executive Director
no later than the time of registration at the national convention.
Selection will be made by the Awards Committee and announced
at the closing business session of the national convention.
* Each nominated chapter should present
an application specifically addressing each of these criteria
in sequence, devoting a separate section of the application to
each criterion, with each section arranged chronically with the
most recent year first. The Awards Committee will consider only
this specific, detailed information. Although the committee will
not evaluate supplementary material such as photographs, news
clippings, brochures, scrapbooks, etc., nominated chapters are
encouraged bring such material, separated from their applications,
for display at the convention.
