Fall Semester 2014

Jarod Stokes Guest Speaker for the Design Classes

Jarod Stokes, graphic design alumnus, will be on campus October 2 to speak to the Art & Design students about user experience design. Check our Harding Art & Design Facebook page for more detailed information as the date approaches.

Little Rock Museum Day Trip

We will be organizing an informal Saturday trip to Little Rock this fall (most likely in October) to see the Dale Chihuly Glass exhibit at the Clinton Center, the Arkansas Arts Center, maybe the Historic Arkansas Museum and catch a few galleries. Then go eat at some cool place. Sounds like a plan!

Memphis Art and Design Trip

A group of Harding students and faculty will be going to Memphis on November 6. We will be visiting the Ornamental Metals Museum, the Dixon Gallery and Gardens and the Brooks Museum. The cost is a very reasonable $25 per person (meals on your own.)

Spring Semester 2015

Chicago Art and Design Trip

Each spring semester the Department of Art and Design sponsors a trip to Chicago (usually late spring). All the majors will find something meaningful to participate in. Interior Designers visit architecture and design firms. Fine art students visit museums, galleries and, if the timing is right, Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2). Graphic Design students get to tour advertising agencies, graphic design firms and letterpress shops (depending on scheduling).

All participants take an architectural tour of the important points in the City, visit the Chicago Art Institute, and have opportunities to tour the Smart Museum, the Oriental Museum and Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House. Some extended trips include the Farnsworth Residence.

ASID South Central Student Career Day

Students engage in mock interviews, portfolio reviews and design competitions

DSVC National Student Show and Design Conference (Dallas)

Each spring the graphic design students have the opportunity to travel to Dallas, Texas, to attend the Nation Student Show and Conference sponsored by the Dallas Society of Visual Communications. This is a golden opportunity to see and hear national and international speakers from the graphic design field. Seniors also get to show their portfolios to some of the hottest agencies and studios in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Come be inspired.
