Students in the mass communication program must complete a 240-hour internship for one or two hours of academic credit prior to graduation. (Download the Internship Experience packet for more information.) Students are encouraged to participate in more than one internship; the value of real-word experience cannot be overstated.
Most students complete their internships during the summer after their sophomore or junior years. Students are responsible for securing their internship positions; however, they should consult with their major advisor. Most internships for communication majors are unpaid, but the experience can be incredibly rewarding. Some internships even lead to full-time jobs after graduation.
Harding's mass communication students have worked media-related internships at major news outlets, creative agencies, production companies and non-profit organizations throughout the world. Ask your major advisor for a more complete list of employers who have hired interns from Harding's mass communication program in previous years.
