In a Nutshell
Global outreach offers a cross-cultural missions internship on four continents. The program offers students a substantive and engaging experience of Christian missions. The program is designed to help students to consider long term cross-cultural ministry.
Missionaries-in-residence meet with interns throughout the year prior to their trip. Interns are responsible to raise their own funds for the internship from family, friends and churches.
Typically students leave the U. S. in late May or early June for eight weeks. Their activities on the field include some basic language study along with their exposure to the ministry and life of the missionary family. They will have opportunities to share their faith and practice Christian service as well as a chance to spend time "bonding" in the home of indigenous Christian families.
Students will accompany the missionaries on a trip to survey future mission possibilities among a people unreached by the Gospel. In addition, time for rest and relaxation is scheduled where interns visit a nearby game park or other tourist attractions.
Normally students must complete BMIS 385 Seminar in World Missions as a pre-requisite (In some cases BMIS 386 or BMIS 388 may be substituted). The internship itself may be taken for one hour of college credit at Harding University, though this is not required.
Non-Harding students are welcome to apply for the internship.
