Vocational Ministry Major General Information

  2. The VM major is comprised of 33 hours. Sixteen hours must be upper level (upper level courses are those with a number of 251 or higher).
  3. A primary major outside of the College of Bible and Religion is required, though the primary major does not have to be chosen prior to declaring Vocational Ministry as one's second major.
  4. A seminar in youth ministry (BYFE 334) is offered each semester for one hour of credit. This is conducted on a single weekend (Thursday, Friday, Saturday). Can be taken up to four times for credit. Registration can be done the week before the seminar. Contact Dr. Daniel Stockstill (279-4293 or stockstill@harding.edu) for dates and other specifics.
  5. Field Work (BMIS 387; BMIN 327; BYFE 337) can be taken for 1-3 hours. In order to received field work credit, the "Application for Field Work" (obtained in the College of Bible office) must be completed and an agreement with a supervising professor must be arranged prior to the field work experience. Summer Field Work is arranged in the Spring, experienced in the Summer, and credited and paid for in the Fall.
  6. Greek 171 (taken in Searcy or while at HUG), waives the BNEW 411 requirement for this major.
  7. Business 435 (Christian Business Ethics) can count toward the university requirement for Bible for the semester, but it does not count toward fulfilling the requirements for the Vocational Ministry major.
