Instructions for country report.

 The following information should be included in your power point presentation (PPP).

  1. Name of country.
  2. Location of country --- map showing its location in reference to other countries.
  3. Size of the country. (Compare it to the size of the US or to one of the states.)
  4. The major types of biomes located within the country. (This should also include information about the topography.)
  5. The population of the country.
  6. Average density.  (You may have to calculate it yourself.)
  7. How urbanized is it?
  8. What are the major ethnic groups?
  9. What are the major religions?
  10. What is its GNP/person?
  11. How is it classified economically?
  12. What is the nature of its government?
  13. What are its major resources?
  14. Is it self sufficient in any resource?
  15. What are its major imports? exports?
  16. What are some of its major environmental problems?
    1. Food availability
    2. Water availability
    3. Water pollution
    4. Deforestation or other biome destruction
    5. Soil erosion
    6. Air pollution
    7. Solid wastes
    8. Hazardous wastes
    9. Urbanization
    10. High rate of population growth/ or declining population growth
    11. Transportation
    12. Energy sources
    13. Poverty
    14. Etc.

  17. What are they doing about their environmental problems?

 

Make the PPP presentation as attractive as possible but don’t use too many “bells and whistles”-- they tend to be annoying after the first few times.

  The PPP should include lots of photos and other illustrations.

  Be sure to document your data: give the URL if it is a www source.  [The CIA site is very useful. but you should look at others as well.]

  Be sure the data is as recent as possible. 

 

You will need to load your presentation on the class room computer. The preferred way is to bring it to class on a flash drive.
