Complete this assignment in Science room 201 or from you
dorm room by installing Source Safe from \\cs-server\CS-MSDNAA\Source Safe.
- Map a
Network Drive
- Open
My Computer
- Select
Map Network Drive on the Tools Menu
- Select
a drive letter (I chose V to represent Visual Source Save)
- In
the Folder box type “\\Cs1\VSS”
- Start
Visual Source Save
- If VSS
ever asks you for a user name and password use your normal username then
no password.
- Open
the Comp 301 SourceSafe Database
- Enter
your user ID and no password
- Click
browse
- At
the top of the browse window select the drive you mapped in step 1.
- Open
the “srcsafe.ini” that appears in the folder.
- Now
that you are back in the “Open SourceSafe Database” window, select the
“COMP301” database to open.
- “Check
Out” the file named “Test for VSS.txt”.
- Open
the file on your computer.
- Add
your name (First and Last) to the end of the file, save it, and then close
it.
- Check
the file back into VSS. Add a
comment with your name (First and Last) to the file as you check it in.
- Create
a new text file on your C drive name it with your name (First and Last). For example Dana Steil.txt.
- In VSS
click on the “Spring 2005 Student Files” folder.
- In VSS
on the “File” menu select “Add Files”.
- Brows
to and select the file you created in step 9. Add it to the Development project.
