About Us

The goal of the Center for Math and Science Education (CMSE) is to meet the needs of P-12 math and science teachers through professional development workshops, graduate classes, and hands-on training. 

The center trains with materials that support mathematics and science education standards and provides network sessions for them to share their experiences. 

Field study trips are offered each summer for approximately 40 area teachers.  These trips are designed to explore the geological features of our state and other parts of the country.  Groups have traveled to places such as the Northwest, the Southeast, Yellowstone and Alaska.

Classes and Workshops

A wide range of math and science materials, as well as portable multimedia kits, is available for checkout and classroom use.  The CMSE is a NASA satellite center, giving teachers access to resources, materials and professional development opportunities.  Some workshop topics include:

Notes:

  • Multimedia and Navigator Kits can be checked out for one semester at a time.
  • All other kits and manipulatives can be checked out for two weeks at a time.
  • Only two manipulative sets and science kits may be checked out at a time.
