Athletic Training

Introduction

sports med. logoThe athletic training major is a Bachelor of Science degree consisting of 128 hours.

The Athletic Training Education Program is accredited by the Commission on Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and students may sit for the BOC examination at the completion of their degree.

The Athletic Training Education Program achieved accreditation in 2006. To date, 30 students have become Certified Athletic Trainers in high schools, clinics, colleges/universities…across the United States.  Twenty-one have either completed/are completing advanced degrees.  (Degrees include: DO, DPT, PA, Nursing, and Education)


Athletic Training Education Programs are required to post “The three year aggregate for the first time pass rate on the Board of Certification Exam”. 

Students**BOC Three Year Aggregate for Harding University for the years 2010-2013 equals 70% (14/20) on First Time Attempts and 85% (17/20) on All Attempts. Twenty five students graduated from the program.

The program is maturing and the last graduating class had a 100% (7/7) pass rate for those taking the exam and 86% (6/7) on first time attempts. Nine students graduated from the program.

For the preceding years:

2011-2012 had 8 graduate from the program with 71% (5/7) passing the BOC exam and 57% (4/7) passing on the first attempt.

2010-2011 had 8 graduate from the program with 83% (5/6) passing the BOC exam and 67% (4/6) passing on the first attempt.
