INTRODUCTION TO PERSONAL COMPUTERS I   $99       Mondays, 6-9 p.m., begins Oct. 6 (four weeks) This class offers hands-on experience for the individual who wants to become familiar with personal computers. Topics covered include identifying parts of the personal computer, Windows framework, start menu and file systems; personalizing your computer control panel, shortcuts and files; using Internet Explorer and e-mail; gaining an overview; and practicing new skills.

INTRODUCTION TO PERSONAL COMPUTERS II     $99       Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m., begins Oct. 7 (four weeks) Students will learn how to install and update software and peripherals and troubleshoot minor problems. Topics covered include Windows Vista, files, folders, updates, software installation, antivirus software, printers, scanners, cameras, software licensing and troubleshooting. Students should be proficient with a keyboard and mouse.

INTRODUCTION TO MICROSOFT EXCEL 2007     $99    Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m., begins Oct. 9 (four weeks) This class covers the fundamental concepts of worksheet design and manipulation. Topics covered include formatting workbooks, functions and formulas with Excel, and charting and graphing.

FINANCIAL STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESSFUL INVESTORS     $69   Mondays, 6-9 p.m., begins Oct. 6 (four weeks) Learn key concepts and practices of wise money management. Topics covered include goal setting, cash management, bonds, stocks, mutual funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, risk management, and tax-free and tax-deferred investments. Price of course includes valuable resource books.

REGAIN CONTROL OF YOUR PERSONAL FINANCES     $129 per household     Tuesdays, 6-8:30 p.m., begins Oct. 7 (eight weeks) Is your money spoken for before you get to enjoy it? Do you run out of money before the end of the month? Do you need a plan to stay in control of what you earn? Come join us in a class to gain the peace that comes from having better control of your income. Learn how to develop a cash flow plan that works. Develop your personal program to meet both your present needs and prepare for future needs. BONUS: Instructor will make available individualized financial counseling to each person or couple.

BEGINNING CAKE DECORATING     $69*       Saturdays, 9:30-12:00 p.m., Oct. 11 & 18 Decorating a beautiful cake is fun and an easy skill that you can enjoy sharing with family and friends. You will be taught how to bake and frost cakes. You will learn simple decorating techniques such as borders, basket weave, Cornelia lace, and writing on a cake, flowers and leaves. You will also learn the basics of doing a character cake. Each class you will need to bring a baked cake and frosting to class. *An additional $20 lab fee will be collected by the instructor the first day of class.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY     $69*       Mondays, 7-9 p.m., begins Oct. 6 (four weeks) Come and learn the ins and outs of photography. This class is for anyone interested in photography. We will learn all about digital cameras. You will leave the class understanding all the camera menu items and what they do. We will also look at the elements of photography and what can be done to improve your photos. Basic photo software will be used to work with digital images. The instructor will provide all images. *An additional $10 lab fee will be collected by the instructor the first night of class.

DOG DAYS OF SUMMER     $75       Saturdays, 9-10:30 a.m., begins Oct. 4 (five weeks)    Have you seen dogs doing tricks and wished that your dog could do them too? Does your dog run all over the house tearing it up and disobeying you? If you answered yes to any of these questions, or if you want to learn more about dog training, this class is for you. This course will cover basic canine obedience and how dogs think. David has a passion and love for dogs. He is a certified Canine Obedience Instructor. SELLING ON EBAY     $69     Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m., begins Oct. 7 (four weeks)  Do you have unused or unwanted items cluttering up your home? Do you want to learn how to sell your items on eBay? This course will teach you how to do it! Learn how to sell your items from an eBay store seller with more than 1000 positive transactions. Participants must be registered users on eBay and able to work independently.

DRAWING FOR BEGINNERS     $59   Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m., begins Oct. 7 (4 weeks) This class on beginning freehand drawing and linear perspective will help you develop your drawing skills. We will cover gesture drawing, blind contour drawing and linear perspective. Some time will be devoted to teaching one-, two, and three-point linear perspective.

BEGINNERS QUILTING     $69    Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m., begins Oct. 7 (six weeks) This course for beginners will cover everything from start to finish that you need to know — from choosing a pattern and fabric to putting on binding. We will touch on everything from small wall hangings to a king-size quilt.

BEGINNERS CROCHET     $69     Mondays, 6-8 p.m., begins Oct. 6 (four weeks) We will begin with something simple like a dishcloth or potholder. We will advance to a beautiful hand-made scarf to wear this winter. By the time this class is over, you will be well on your way to having an afghan finished for Christmas. *An additional $10 lab fee will be collected by the instructor the first night of class.

BEADED JEWELRY     $69    Mondays, 7-9 p.m., begins Oct 6 (four weeks) Come and discover how to creating one of-a-kind necklaces and earrings. Every piece is as quick and easy to make as it is to view.  You’ll use a variety of beads and wires — gemstones, pearls, sterling silver, wire, leather and more. We will start with affordable tools and supplies. I can teach you using my tools, and then you can buy your own. Anyone one can do it! You will actually make something to wear during the first class. Books with lots of ideas will also be available to use.

FLOWER ARRANGING AND HOME DECORATING USING SILKS    $69*    Thursdays, 7-9 p.m., begins Oct. 9 (five weeks) Would you like to learn how to do floral arrangements like the pros? Would you like to learn some behind-the-scenes secrets? Then this class is for you! In this popular class, you will learn to design flower arrangements and make various decorations with silks to accent your home for all seasons. *An additional $10 lab fee will be collected by the instructor the first night of class.

CATALYST FITNESS    $69     Mondays and Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m., begins Oct. 6 (four weeks) “Catalyst” fitness will teach individuals how to strength and cardio train at the same time. We will focus on the proper and most effective ways to lift weights and exercise aerobically. We will use a circuit-training program in which various upper and lower body lifts will be done in combination with treadmill, elliptical and cycling aerobic activities over a 45-minute time period. This class will also offer before and after body-fat percentages and an opportunity for food journaling. Due to the physical nature of the class, each student will sign a waiver. Please see a doctor before exercising if you are older and/or have not been in the habit of exercising. This is only a four-week program, but it can provide the jump-start to get you going with your personal — and effective — exercise program.
