Arkansas Tech University invites applications for the Director of the Academic Advising Center. The Director provides oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Academic Advising Center and is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of the center’s undergraduate advising initiatives. In addition, the Director oversees the development of advisement guides, websites, and other tools to aid in the advisement process, ensures compliance with state and institutional advising policies, advises all incoming transfer and returning students and serves all continuing undergraduate students with less than 60 hours. The Director collaborates with academic Deans and Department Heads to facilitate the successful transition of students to their majors. The Director is also expected to provide training and ongoing support to faculty advisors while supervising eight full-time professional advisors and one financial advisor. Required Qualifications: Master's Degree; five years of full-time experience in a college or university setting in one or more of the following: academic advising, transfer articulation, admissions/enrollment or retention counseling; evidence of written and oral communication skills, leadership, organizational skills, and program development skills; knowledge of federal financial aid and state financial aid programs. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who have a Master's degree in college student personnel, counseling, or related discipline; with a minimum of three years experience in undergraduate academic advising; are bilingual, or have a working knowledge of Banner. This is a full-time, 12-month position with a salary commensurate with relevant experience and education. Anticipated start date will be March 1, 2015.
