Scholars Abroad 2013 (June 3-June 17)

Scholars Abroad is a two-week course designed for students entering their freshman year of college. The tentative dates for the summer of 2013 are June 3 through June 17.

An inspiring graduation gift for that college-bound student. Open to high school students who have completed their senior year. Students earn three hours of Bible credit for BHIS 140: The Mediterranean World. The class and tour for 2013 will be directed by Dr. Scott Adair, Professor in the College of Bible and Ministry.

Enrollment is limited to 32 students, so apply now! An application fee of $400 (non-refundable) must accompany your application. The application fee will be applied to the program cost. Applications will be reviewed before final selection of participants. In the event your application is not accepted, we will refund the application fee. Don't forget your camera!

Fly round-trip to Athens, Greece, and stay at the Harding Campus in Porto Rafti, Greece. Visit famous biblical and archaeological sites:

  • The Acropolis
  • Mars Hill
  • Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion
  • Temple of Artemis
  • National Archaeological Museum of Greece
  • Ancient Corinth
  • The Monasteries of Meteora

The program will end with a visit to another country, in either:

1) Italy

  • Pompei 
  • The Colosseum
  • The Forum
  • The Vatican Museums
  • The Catacombs

OR

2) Turkey

  • Ephesus
  • Pergamum
  • Istanbul

OR

3) Israel

  • Jerusalem
  • Masada
  • Sea of Galilea

Hit the Books

Earn three hours of college credit through Harding's College of Bible and Ministry. You'll be guided by Scott Adair, Professor.

The course, entitled "The Mediterranean World" (BHIS 140) explores the language and culture of the 1st century Greco-Roman world with tours of the most significant archaeological sites in Greece.

Relax and enjoy your two-week stay in the resort city of Porto Rafti, Greece. Men and women will be housed on separate floors of Harding's beautiful, modern Christian Conference Center.

Cost: Total cost per person, including the application fee, all air fare, room and board (3 meals per day), entrance fees, and tours is $3,645. Three hours of credit is granted to all who complete the program. Here is the payment schedule: 

  • Application Fee (non-refundable): $400.00 (due with application)
  • First Payment: $1,500.00 (due December 1, 2012)
  • Final Payment: $1745.00 (due March 1, 2013)
