Requirements for Entrance into the College of Education

In order to be licensed to teach in Arkansas, you must fulfill certain requirements before entering the college of Education.  You must fill out the paperwork for this before taking  Pre-Student teaching II (SeEd 314).   In addition to the application paperwork, you must also complete the  following:

  1. Overall GPA of 2.50.
  2. "C" or better in both English 113 and English 211.
  3. "C" or better in EdFd 202.
  4. "C" or better in EdFd 203.
  5. "C" or better in ComO 101.
  6. "C" or better in Math 151. -- College Algebra
  7. Praxis I Test (PPST). (Minimum scores: Reading, 172; Math, 171; Writing, 173)
  8. Curriculum Plan to be filled out with your advisor.
  9. The deadline for applications to be in for the Summer is April 1st;  for the Fall, applications must be in by Aug. 1st; and for Spring by  Nov. 1st.

Licensure Requirements

  1.  PRAXIS II: PLT

  2. PRAXIS II: Social Studies Content knowledge

  3. PRAXIS II: Social Studies Analytical Essays

  4. Supervised Teaching Semester -- Request forms must be filled out a semester beforehand

 

 

Recommendation Letters

    If you are in need of a recommendation letter from Dr. Harris -- either for a portfolio requirement or for

a job interview/ application,  please e-mail her the request at jeharris@harding.edu .   Please include the following in the e-mail:

Reminder of which courses you have had with me

Whether or not you need more than one copy sent

DO NOT SEND AN ADDRESSED ENVELOPE.  A stamp is fine, but recommendation letters need to be sent in letterhead envelopes from our office.
