Projects completed in 2008
MSDNAA - The Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance provides computing students with free development software. The issuing of this wide range of software products to MIS students and keeping control and track of license keys is a major task. This project addressed the business process that tracks students check out and use software for the MSDNAA software available to all IT students and students taking IT classes. A database was created to include all eligible students for this program, distributes license keys, and generates reports of the software usage. A form to request and view the available software was also created. Network Project - This project included setting up in a simulation in which several application servers are installed and configured over a Wide Area Network. The application servers include Exchange Server, Microsoft Sharepoint, and Microsoft Project Server, running on a Windows 2003 Active Directory environment. Cisco routers and switches were configured to establish the Wide Area Network. Scheduling Database - This project solved a business problem for a local landscaping company by creating a scheduling database. This database assigns work to various crews based on the type of work and the amount a crew can accomplish during a given day. The database generates a report each morning that will assign the work from the customer contracts that will be entered into the database. This will save approximately 5-8 hours a week of time from scheduling work that has been done by hand in the past. Website – A website was created for a local Dentist in town where video testimonials, photos, and pages were all designed using Adobe Flash.
