April 23, 2008 Harding University to host band extravaganzaSEARCY - The Harding University Wind Ensemble and the Searcy High School Band will host the 11th Annual Band Extravaganza April 29.Featured guest artists for the event are John Whitwell, internationally acclaimed conductor and director of bands emeritus at Michigan State University, and Wesley Parker, percussion soloist and instructor of percussion at Harding. Whitwell will also present a series of master classes and lectures for university students while in Searcy. Concert bands from Harding Academy, Searcy High School and Harding University will present a short concert of traditional band music. Whitwell will conduct the bands in a performance of "Amazing Grace" and "Stars and Stripes Forever." The public is welcome to this free concert, which begins at 7 p.m. in Benson Auditorium. |
