Harding to offer Bible classes across Arkansas

SEARCY, Ark. – Harding University's Distance Delivery Bible program will expand its face-to-face offerings to 10 locations across Arkansas this fall.

Harding held Bible classes in Russellville, Bentonville and Conway this spring, providing new opportunities for in-depth Bible study for college credit for members of these communities.

Bobby Vaughn, preacher at the Garfield Church of Christ and student in Bentonville, said, "I've been preaching for a long time and have studied the Word for years, but Tim Rine, my teacher, brought things out in this class that I have never thought of before.  I understand the Scriptures now in a way that will make me a better Christian and preacher."

Chris Buxton, the campus minister at Arkansas Tech, reports, "These courses give our students a chance to study Scripture at a deeper level than they might otherwise be able to at a state university. Since the course credit applies to their ATU degree, it's a win-win situation. I would love to see every state university campus ministry in the nation offer these kinds of courses on their campuses."

Beginning in August, classes will be offered in Batesville, Bentonville, Conway, El Dorado, Ft. Smith, Jonesboro, Magnolia, Monticello, North Little Rock and Russellville. College credit can be earned from these classes and transferred to other schools in the state, applied toward the certificate of biblical studies at Harding, applied toward degree pursuits at Harding, or used for leveling toward the Master of Ministry degree from Harding's Center for Advanced Ministry Training.

Tim Westbrook, coordinator of the Distance Delivery Bible program, says, "It is our goal to provide more options to church members and students across the state of Arkansas for furthering their understanding of God's Word."

Harding's remote and online Bible classes are designed for those who are working professionals or students at other schools who would like to gain more knowledge of the Bible and receive better preparation for their involvements in their local congregations.

Westbrook adds, "We hope that our course offerings at a distance will assist the existing ministries that are changing and improving lives already, while at the same time, provide a credible, affordable and meaningful Harding experience."
