Harding Honors College presents first speaker in L.C. Sears Collegiate Seminar Series
SEARCY, Ark.— The Harding University Honors College will welcome Sasha
Dmochowski, a member of the American Ballet Theatre, as the first
speaker in the 2009-10 L.C. Sears Collegiate Seminar Series.
Dmochowski will speak on how the human body expresses narrative and
emotion through dance, in particular, ballet. The title of her program
is “Muscle Memory: How to tell stories on your toes.”
As a member of the American Ballet Theatre since 2001, Dmochowski has
both performed and taught ballet for nearly 20 years. She studied at
the Boston Ballet School and danced with the Boston Ballet from
1994-2001.
The L.C. Sears Collegiate Seminar Series is a student-organized
lecture series, where the students of the Honors College and its
officers, the Honors Council, choose topics of interest and invite
speakers under the supervision of the dean.
Dmochowski is the first speaker of the 2009-10 school year. The
seminar will be held Sept. 27, 2009, in American Studies 200 and is
free to students and faculty.
Harding had a record enrollment this year of more than 6,600 students
from all 50 states and 49 foreign countries. It is the largest private
university in Arkansas and attracts more National Merit Scholars than
any other private university in the state. Harding also maintains
campuses in Australia, Chile, England, France/Switzerland, Greece,
Italy and Zambia.
