Harding University nursing dean honored at reception

SEARCY, Ark. — Dr. Cathleen Shultz, dean of the College of Nursing at
Harding University, will be installed as president of the National
League for Nursing at the organization’s Education Summit on Sept. 26
in Philadelphia, Penn. More than 200 people gathered at a reception in
her honor at Harding Sept. 9.

Shultz began teaching at Harding in 1976 and went on to become the
first and only dean of the College of Nursing in 1980. She joined the
NLN in 1976 and made history in 2005 when she became the first
Arkansan elected to the organization’s Board of Governors, serving as
treasurer. She has served the past two years as president-elect, and
her two-year term as president begins in October.

NLN CEO Dr. Beverly Malone attended the reception. The
organization is the oldest professional association for nursing
education. The NLN works to build a strong and diverse nursing
workforce by promoting excellence in nursing education, boasting
28,000 individual members and 1,200 institutional members.
