New freshmen arrive at Harding University this week
SEARCY, Ark. – As Harding University gears up for the 2009-10 academicyear, incoming freshmen will arrive on campus Aug. 20 for Student
Impact, a four-day orientation program designed to help new students
make the adjustment to college life.
Students will meet other freshmen and professors with whom they will
spend the next four years, and 250 upperclassmen will be on hand to
lead energy group sessions to help students get acquainted with one
another and learn more about campus life.
Parents will also get a feel for campus Thursday and Friday, meeting
with administrators and listening to current students share stories
about their Harding experience.
A variety of activities are planned for the week including theme
dinners and a luau, entertainment by comedy hypnotist Dale K, and a
movie and game night. Students will also enjoy daily devotions and
participate in multiple service projects on Saturday afternoon. They
will visit area retirement communities, organize a food drive and
distribute canned goods to the community, and work on projects with
area churches.
Classes begin for the fall semester Aug. 24.
