Design students collaborate on project for fundraiser
SEARCY, Ark.— Junior interior design and senior graphic design majors at Harding University are collaborating on a project that will benefit Habitat for Humanity.Design students were assigned a restaurant development project. Four competing groups were to come up with different concepts based upon works of well-known artists. Interior design students constructed floor plans, designed furnishings and chose finishes. Graphic design students designed menus, letterheads and literature about the restaurant.
Models of the four designs will debut at a reception in the Stevens Art Gallery from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21. The public is invited to view the restaurant designs and vote for their favorites with cash. The model that makes the most money will win the design competition. All funds raised will be donated to Habitat for Humanity in Searcy.
The student project is under the direction of Daniel Adams, professor of art, and Amy Cox, assistant professor of art.
The restaurant models will continue to be displayed in the Stevens Art Gallery on Harding's campus next week, Feb. 23-27. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 501-279-4316.
