Dr. Bob Walker to speak on relating health and religion


SEARCY, Ark. – Dr. Bob Walker, M.D., FACS will be speaking Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Heritage Auditorium at Harding University. Walker will be conducting a review of studies on the topic "Health and Religion: Is There a Relationship?"

Walker is currently a member of the Harding University Board of Trustees, the Alabama Policy Institute Board and the Compass Bank Board.

He obtained his undergraduate degree from Harding College in 1977 and his graduate degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1981. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama Hospitals and Clinics and received his certification from The American Board of Surgery in 1989. His practice experience is in general and peripheral vascular surgery.

Walker, general surgeon, works for the Surgical Associates of North Alabama, P.C. in Decatur, Ala. He is married to Ethel Ellis Walker and has three children, Robert Charles Jr., Mary Kyle and Elizabeth Claire.

Harding had a record enrollment this year of more than 6,500 students from 48 states and 52 foreign countries. It is the largest private university in Arkansas and attracts more National Merit Scholars than any other private university in the state. Harding also maintains campuses in Australia, Chile, England, France/Switzerland, Greece, Italy and Zambia.
