University dedicates College of Business Administration to Paul R. Carter
Harding University will host the dedication of the Paul R. Carter College of Business Administration on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m.
Carter began his career with Howard Discount Stores where he learned from the Howard family. He was hired by Sam Walton in 1977 as they worked together building Wal-Mart, a company founded upon the principles of integrity, service and a strong work ethic. Throughout his 26-year career with Wal-Mart, he held the titles of executive vice-president, chief financial officer, president of Wal-Mart Realty Company, and named to the board of directors.
Carter loved Harding University and the College of Business Administration. He began his service on the Harding board of trustees in 1985, continuing for 25 years until his death in October 2009.
The Mabee Building has been home to the Paul R. Carter College of Business Administration since 1982. Since then, the college has seen tremendous growth in its enrollment, and the decision was made to expand the building to better accommodate the growing student body.
Construction on the Mabee Building’s facilities upgrade began August 2010 and was completed May 2011. The new additions give ample space for in-class and out of class learning and studying, making students and faculty alike feel right at home in their new space.
