Alumnus earns place in prestigious a cappella singing group

Harding University alumnus David Walton was recently offered a
one-year contract with renowned Minneapolis-based a cappella singing
group, Cantus.

Cantus is a nine-member, all male, professional vocal ensemble. The
group performs 70 live concerts and 30 to 40 educational activities
per season, both nationally and globally. Cantus is the only
full-time, professional vocal ensemble in the nation and is one of two
that has the ability to pay its artists full-time salaries while still
performing year-round.

Walton, who will fill a tenor position, plans to begin rehearsing with
the group at the beginning of August. Cantus will start touring for
their concert season two weeks later.

In his time at Harding, Walton was a two-time Spring Sing host, a
member of both the Chamber Singers and Harding University Chorus, and
participated in several homecoming musical productions. He graduated
in 2009 and is a Nashville, Tenn., native.
