Professor honored by state chemical society

Dr. Ed Wilson, professor of chemistry at Harding University, was given
the Outstanding Service Award by the Central Arkansas Section of the
American Chemical Society at the organization’s annual awards banquet
April 19 at University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Wilson, who has been a member of the society since 1962, served as
chair of the section in 1996 and is currently the chair-elect. He has
also served as councilor to the section for the past decade. He was
nominated for the award, and the final decision was made by the
chapter’s executive committee.

The American Chemical Society is an organization of more than 161,000
members. The purpose of the organization is to promote the chemical
enterprise and look after the wellbeing and professional development
of its members. It is chartered by the U.S. Congress and provides
information to Congress when requested. The American Chemical Society
produces Chemical Abstracts, which abstracts all articles from around
the world that are about chemistry and chemistry research.
