Faculty and staff honored at recognition dinner
Eight faculty members and five staff members were honored during theannual faculty and staff recognition dinner on campus April 15.
David Allen, Dr. Allen Diles, Dr. Julie Harris, Britton Lynn, Dr.
Frank McCown, Dr. Steve Moore, Jerry Myhan and Cheri Smith are the
2011 Teacher Achievement Award recipients.
Penny Hitt, Morris Seawel, Robbie and Mona Shackelford, and Elaine
Wade are the 2011 Distinguished Service Award recipients.
Allen is an associate professor of accounting in the College of
Business Administration. Diles is an assistant professor of Bible in
the College of Bible and Religion. Harris is an associate professor of
history in the College of Arts and Humanities. Lynn is an associate
professor of communication in the College of Communication. McCown is
an assistant professor of computer science in the College of Sciences.
Moore is a professor of biology and associate chair of the department
within the College of Sciences. Myhan is an associate professor of
nursing in the Carr College of Nursing. Smith is an assistant
professor in the Cannon-Clary College of Education.
Hitt works with 3- and 4-year-old preschoolers at Harding Academy.
Seawel is associate director of admissions with primary
responsibilities for recruiting in the Southeastern states of
Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. The Shackelfords
received the award as a couple. Robbie serves as the onsite director
of the Harding University in Florence program in Italy, and Mona
serves as the program’s associate director. Wade is a benefits
specialist in the human resources office.
All honorees were presented with a check and framed certificate
commemorating the award.
