New academic director named for Physician Assistant Program
Assistant Professor Greg Davenport has been named theacademic director for the Physician Assistant Program at Harding
University.
Davenport replaces Peggy Huckeba, who will retire with the close of
the academic year. He was chosen after consideration of a number of
qualified applicants and appointed by Dr. Michael Murphy, director of
the program. The decision is effective May 16.
Davenport joined the Harding faculty in fall 2010 and formerly worked
as an emergency medicine physician assistant with Southwest Washington
Medical Center in Vancouver, Wa. He holds a Master of Physician
Assistant Studies degree from University of Nebraska and is a licensed
PA.
As academic director, Davenport will be responsible for coordination
and design of the curriculum in the didactic phase of the PA education
program.
The 28-month graduate program began at Harding in summer 2005 and is
the first physician assistant program in Arkansas. Currently there are
66 students enrolled in the program. The Accreditation Review
Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant awarded continued
accreditation to the program in September 2009.
