Students participate in regional honors conference

Students from the Honors College at Harding University participated
in the Southern Regional Honors Council conference in Little Rock
March 30-April 1.

James Easter, a junior music major from Edmond, Okla., was selected to
perform “Andecy,” composed by classical guitarist Andrew York, during
the conference. Emily Sansom, a senior art therapy major from Searcy,
displayed her artwork entitled “Adequate,” a colored pencil on mat
board drawing.

Each year students are invited to submit abstracts of their proposed
presentation of research, panel discussion, poster, musical
performance, or art showcase. A committee of the SRHC then selects
those who will participate at the conference. Other students who are
not presenting also attend.

Other attendees included Shelby Rackley, a junior art major from
Searcy; Greg Snide, a junior music major from Edmond, Okla.; and
Joshua Moran, a freshman biochemistry and molecular biology major from
Searcy. Dr. J. Warren Casey, assistant dean of the Honors College,
accompanied the students at the conference.

The SRHC annual conference provides an opportunity for students to
interact with honors program students from institutions across the
Southeast. Members include colleges from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida,
Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South
Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
