Renowned concert guitarist to perform on campus
Concert guitarist Petar Jankovic will be the final performer in the 2010-11 Classical Lyceum Series March 24 at 7 p.m. in the Administration Auditorium at Harding University. Tickets will be $3 at the door.
Jankovic is an internationally renowned musician who has participated in many major competitions around the world, and he currently plays around 30 concerts each season. He is frequently praised for his genuine, expressive musical interpretation and mastery in the technical aspect of concert guitar.
His award collection includes a 1998 bronze medal at the H.R.H. Princess Cristina 13th International Guitar Competition in Spain, a 1998 first prize at the annual Competition in Performance of Hispano-American music in Bloomington, Ind., and a 1998 bronze medal at the M.M. Ponce International guitar competition in Mexico. In 1997 he was the first ever guitarist to receive the Graduate Top Strings Award at the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale.
The program for the evening will feature works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Federico Moreno-Torrobba, Isaac Albeniz, Jose Luis Merlin, Roland Dyens and Astor Piazzolla.
Jankovic will sign CDs in the lobby after the performance.
