Student dies in highway accident; memorial to be held on campus
Harding University will hold a memorial service in honor of freshman Ty Osman Friday, March 16 at 9 a.m. on campus in the Benson Auditorium. Osman, a Brentwood, Tenn., resident, died March 3 from injuries he sustained in a car accident on Interstate 30 near Hooks, Texas.
On March 2, six University students, including Osman, were traveling together in two vehicles to Fort Worth, Texas, for spring break when the leading car, a Jeep, was rear-ended by a Dodge Charger. Osman, driving a truck with one other passenger, pulled over and got out to check on his friends in the Jeep and the driver of the Charger. While on his way back to his vehicle, another truck hit his truck, which hit him. Osman was airlifted to the Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas, and died the next day. No other serious injuries occurred.
The funeral service for Osman was held in Brentwood, Tenn., at Woodmont Hills Church of Christ March 8.
