Professor selected to serve on editorial review board
Director of the McNair Scholars Program and Professor of psychology Linda Thompson accepted an invitation from the College Reading and Learning Association to serve for three years on the editorial review board for Journal of College Reading and Learning.
Published each fall and spring, JCRL is a national peer reviewed forum for the theory, research and policy related to reading improvement and learning assistance at the two- and four-year college levels. It publishes reports of original research and articles linking theory, research or policy to practice.
Thompson has been a member of CRLA for a number of years, as well as its sister organization the National Association for Developmental Education. She has previously served as NADE president and currently serves as chair of the NADE Certification Council. In 2006, Thompson was selected as a fellow of the Council of Learning Assistance and Developmental Education Associations. She has directed Harding’s TRiO McNair Scholars Program since 2004. This federally funded program provides academically enriching experiences and mentoring to prepare students for graduate school admission and eventual doctoral study.
“The Journal of College Reading and Learning is a very fine publication, and I feel quite honored to have been asked to serve in this capacity,” Thompson said. “It will take some work, but it’s an opportunity to serve the profession by giving researchers and writers a chance to add to the body of knowledge about practices that support student success in colleges and universities.”
