New faculty welcomed to campus

Harding University began its 2012-2013 academic year with the annual faculty and staff presession dinner Aug. 16, where 29 new faculty members were introduced to the campus community.

College of Allied Health

  • Joni Day will be joining the department of communication sciences and disorders as an instructor. She previously served as a speech pathologist at Reaper Physical Therapy. She holds a Master of Communication Disorders from Arkansas State University.
  • Dean Ezell will be joining the physical therapy program as an associate professor. He formerly served as a hospitalist at Central Arkansas Veterans Health Care Systems and is also the medical director of River City Ministries. He holds a Doctor of Medicine from University of Arkansas for Medical Services.
  • Scott Greene will be joining the physician assistant program as an assistant professor. He formerly worked as a physician assistant at the Nantz National Alzheimer Center in Houston. He holds a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Harding University.
  • John Henderson will be joining the physician assistant program as an associate professor. He previously served as a cardiologist at Searcy Medical Center. He holds a Doctor of Medicine from University of Tennessee.
  • Mario Hofheinz will be joining the physician assistant program as an assistant professor. He formerly worked as a physician assistant at the Sleep Clinic of Arkansas in Searcy. He holds a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Harding University.
  • Mary Madill will be joining the physician assistant program as an assistant professor. She previously worked as a physician assistant at the Chambers Memorial Clinic in Danville, Ark. She holds a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Harding University.
  • Ruth Ann Mathis will be joining the physical therapy program as an assistant professor. She formerly worked as a physical therapist at Progressive Therapy. She holds a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Central Arkansas.
  • Brian Odom will be joining the physical therapy program. He previously worked as a physical therapist at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He holds a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Central Arkansas.

College of Bible and Religion

  • Gary Jackson will join the college as an instructor. He previously worked as a missionary in Beijing, China. He holds a Doctorandus from Trinity Bible College.
  • Kevin Kehl will join the college as an assistant professor. He previously served as executive director for the Center for International Education at Abilene Christian University. He holds a Doctor of Education from Baylor University.
  • Daniel Oden will join the college as an assistant professor. He previously served as an associate minister at the Church of Christ of Folsom. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from New York University.

Paul R. Carter College of Business Administration

  • Dan Summers will join the college as an assistant professor. He was formerly the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Central Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute (CARTI). He holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Carr College of Nursing

  • Susan Kehl will be joining the college as an associate professor. She formerly served as interim dean of the College of Nursing at Abilene Christian University. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy and is a registered nurse and certified nurse educator, all of which she received from Texas Woman’s University.
  • Nona Lacy will be joining the college as an assistant professor. She previously taught at Cochise College as an associate professor of nursing. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University.

Cannon-Clary College of Education

  • Bruce and Lisa Bryant will join the college as associate and assistant professors, respectively. Bruce previously served as superintendent of the Crossett School District, where Lisa was director of special education and health services. Bruce holds a Doctor of Education from Harding and Lisa holds a Master of Science in Education from University of Central Arkansas.
  • Marc Fager will join the department of professional counseling as an assistant professor. He formerly served as program coordinator at the Center for Children and Families in West Monroe, La. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from University of Louisiana at Monroe.
  • Josh Strickland will join the department of professional counseling as an assistant professor. He previously worked as a therapist and holds an Educational Specialist degree from Harding.
  • Stephen Warren will join the college as an associate professor. He was formerly a teacher, coach and curriculum coordinator at Jackson Christian School in Jackson, Tenn. He holds a Doctor of Education from Union University.
  • Frank Harris will join the college as the coordinator of a new educational site at Crowley’s Ridge College. He served as president of Crowley’s Ridge Academy and a teacher. He holds a Master of Science in Education from Arkansas State University.

College of Pharmacy

  • Maranda Sanders will be joining the college as an assistant professor. She previously served as a pharmacist at Walmart. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee at Memphis.
  • Melissa Shipp will be joining the pharmacy practice program as an assistant professor. She previously worked as a staff pharmacist at White River Medical Center. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
  • Debbie Waggoner will be joining the pharmacy practice program as an associate professor. She previously served as a nuclear pharmacist at NuTech Inc. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

College of Sciences

  • Amy Ellis will be joining the Biology department as a lecturer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Harding University.
  • Kathy Helpenstill will be joining the behavioral science department as an assistant professor. She previously served as a forensic interviewer at White County Children’s Safety Center. She holds a Master of Social Work from University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
  • Trixie Lee will be joining the college as an assistant professor. She was previously a teaching assistant at University of Alaska. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy from University of Alaska.
  • Cindy White will be joining the chemistry department as an associate professor. She was an instructor at University of Colorado. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Colorado State University.
  • Taylor Williams will be joining the engineering and physics department as an instructor. He previously worked as a systems engineer at Elbit Systems of America. He holds a Master of Engineering from Tufts University. 

Harding Academy

  • Paige Barnett will be joining as high school art teacher. She previously taught as a long-term substitute at Bald Knob School District. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Harding University.
  • Braden Kehl will be joining as a sixth grade teacher. He recently graduated from Harding University with a Bachelor of Arts.
