Professor named fellow by national association
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association elected Dr. Beckie Weaver, dean of the College of Allied Health, a fellow on June 28.
“This is a great honor to me, personally,” Weaver said. “It means that I have achieved a level of recognition in my profession for my years of service to the organization, to my state association and my university.”
Fellowship is granted to nominees that have made significant contributions to the field of communication sciences and disorders. Weaver said ASHA has more than 150,000 members, but each year only 20 to 30 members are given the lifelong recognition of a fellowship.
In November, Weaver will be recognized at an awards ceremony during the ASHA convention in Atlanta. She is the second Harding professor to be named an ASHA fellow.
