    SPED Resource Teacher Academy Grant

Applications are now being accepted for the 2024-25 Cohort

Harding University’s Cannon-Clary College of Education is approved by the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education to offer Special Education Resource Teacher Academy grants free of charge for the 2024-25 cohort, beginning June 2024! For grant recipients, this grant will cover the cost of tuition, books, and one registration fee for the required SPED Praxis assessment.

Features of the program:

  • Twelve hours of graduate-level endorsement coursework
  • 100% online asynchronous course cohort model
  • Synchronous online Praxis preparation workshops three times throughout the grant year

This grant-funded, free Special Education Resource Endorsement program is for you if:

  • you currently have a standard Arkansas teaching license or a provisional license with an ALP in Special Education Resource
  • you are licensed in one of the following areas and levels and are currently teaching in the licensure area in an Arkansas public or charter school
    K-6
    4-8 or 7-12 English Language Arts (ELA)
    4-8 or 7-12 Mathematics
    4-8 Science
    7-12 Biology
    7-12 Chemistry
    7-12 Physics
  • you are seeking an opportunity to teach your licensed content area to students with exceptionalities in an inclusive and/or resource setting

To add a Special Education Resource Endorsement (K-6 or 7-12) to your license, you must provide documentation of Science of Reading (SOR) Phase 1 Prescribed Pathway for Awareness Credential. For more information visit the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Admission Requirements

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED

In order to be admitted to the grant, please follow all steps below:

  • Submit a completed, signed Supplemental Information Form pdf to spedrta@harding.edu
  • Submit an online application.
    • Create a login and password.
    • Select "2024 Entry Year" and "2024 Masters/Doctoral" to begin.
    • On the personal information page, select "Education" as the College of Study.
    • The Degree/Endorsement Type will be "Grant."
    • Select "Special Education Resource Teachers' Academy" as the Intended Program.
    • Fill out the online application completely.
  • Request one letter of recommendation via the online application system.
  • Upload a copy of your Arkansas Educator's License to the online application.
  • Request official bachelor's and/or master's transcript(s) be sent to admissions@harding.edu.

Note that for unconditional admission, you must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (or a 3.0 on the last sixty hours or an earned master's degree). Provisional admission can be granted to those with a GPA of 2.35 (or 2.75 on the last sixty hours).

Synchronous Praxis Prep & Support
Intentional dates have been selected to prepare for the Praxis test. Each meeting is 10 a.m. to noon.
