Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering

The computer engineering program is designed for students interested in the computer-based solution of many of today's technical problems. A computer engineer is able to work in the fields of digital systems, software engineering, and design automation. Computer engineers develop new applications of computer techniques, which provide increased speed, reliability, and ease of use. Engineering design is taught in each of the four years of the computer engineering program, beginning in the first semester and culminating in the senior year in the capstone project.

The computer engineering curriculum is focused in two areas: Computer Hardware Design (an understanding of design methodologies for electronic circuits, digital systems, computer architecture and integrated circuits) and Computer Software Design (an understanding of design methodologies for algorithms, data structures, operating systems and a variety of software applications across various computer languages). By progressing through the curriculum, the student will develop a strong background in the engineering sciences so that they can continue to develop in this rapidly changing field.

The Bachelor of Science program in computer engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s) and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.

The computer engineering program has 16 students in 2023-24 and graduated 4 students in 2022-23.

Bachelor of Science in Construction Science

The construction science degree prepares students to be professional constructors and managers within the industry of the built environment. The curriculum is designed to produce professional personnel equipped to manage and mitigate the growing challenges in all aspects of construction. The degree consists of a compilation of engineering science and project management coursework that will prepare the student for professional careers in residential, commercial, and heavy construction.

The program prepares graduates to execute the designs created by engineers and architects. Students share the same classroom with engineering and architecture students preparing for their professional careers. This setting and approach equips the construction science students with an in-depth understanding of construction design, specifications, and expectations that govern the projects the student will be executing after graduation.

The construction science curriculum affords students a level of construction science education that would require multiple years of industry experience to develop. This provides students the opportunity to be highly marketable for the many open positions within the construction industry, as well as opportunities to rapidly advance within their construction organizations.
