Events on Campus

To keep those on campus safe, we will not be bringing large groups to campus during the fall. Events such as Family Weekend, Lectureship and Homecoming are canceled or will be held virtually. Although the current precautions may affect the number in attendance at a time, location, or type of event, it will in no way lessen the number of opportunities for connection and entertainment.

Fall Athletics

The Great American Conference's Council has suspended all fall and winter sports (basketball, cross-country, football, soccer and volleyball) and the two-semester sports (golf and tennis) through December 31. All schedules will be adjusted at a later date for play in the spring. Learn more from Harding Sports.

Lectureship

Due to the number of people that normally come to campus, Lectureship will be held virtually this year in order to maintain safety on campus for our students. Their will be new virtual lectures added to their webpage throughout the semester.

Family Weekend

Due to the number of people that normally come to campus, Family Weekend is cancelled this year in order to maintain safety on campus for our students.

Homecoming

Virtual October 29-31, 2020

Due to the number of people that normally come to campus from across the nation, Homecoming will be held virtually this year in order to maintain safety on campus for our students. There will be on demand and live events to participate in virtually including the crowning of the Homecoming queen, theatre productions and musical performances.

American Studies Institute

While we have multiple speakers already scheduled for the coming academic year, like Jerry Mitchell and Benjamin Watson, we are still determining who will make up the audience. Some lectures may also be livestreamed, but more information will be determined individually based on each upcoming event.

Campus Lighting

November 2, 2020

It’s just not Christmas at Harding without the official lighting ceremony. The Christmas lights that are traditionally turned on the day after Thanksgiving break will instead be lit Monday, November 2 before students return home.

Commencement

November 21, 2020

We plan to hold an in-person commencement on Nov. 21 before students go home for Thanksgiving break. We want all of our 2020 graduates — fall, spring and summer — to have the opportunity to wear their cap and gown and walk across the stage in person. This will be a closed event only for graduates and faculty.
