Students with Disabilities
Students with Disabilities: It is the policy of Harding University to accommodate students with disabilities pursuant to federal and state laws. Therefore, any student with a documented disability (e.g. physical, learning or psychological) who needs to arrange any accommodations must contact his/her instructors and the disabilities director at the beginning of the semester. (If the diagnosis occurs during the academic year, the student must self-identify with the disabilities director as soon as possible in order to get academic accommodations in place for the remainder of the year.) Since some graduate courses are taught at different sites and students will not have access to the Disabilities Office located on Harding University’s Searcy campus, the student must self-identify with the instructor of the course and submit documentation by fax or mail to the Disabilities Office on our main campus. Upon receiving the appropriate documentation approved by ADA Guidelines, academic accommodations may be set up by a telephone conference with the Disabilities Director. Students: Graduate and Professional students who intend to request accommodations must complete this packet of forms (pdf) to self-report any disabilities. No accommodations may be granted until this action has been completed.
Instructors: All Graduate and Professional syllabi must include the language above regarding students with disabilities.
Instructors and Proctors: View a sample proctor form pdf. Program directors will receive a Proctor Form completed by the Disability Director for each graduate student eligible to receive test accommodations. Copies of the completed Proctor Form should be made so that a separate sheet accompanies each exam given during the semester. The instructor (or proctor) and the student will sign off on the sheet when the test/exam is completed. Proctor Forms should be placed in a confidential file in the program office for documentation.
