Welcome Alumni and Friends of the History House

History HouseWe invite you to visit the Harding University History House conveniently located at 205 Lott Tucker Drive. The house is open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 AM- 4 PM with extended hours during Homecoming, Spring Sing and other special events.

The History House welcomes visitors to two large gallery rooms that allow guests to relive Harding’s rich heritage. The front east room shares a chronological progression of the university, highlighting key events from each decade. On this historic chronological journey, pictures from each decade tell the story of Harding’s historical beginnings. This room also showcases the first flag of Harding, items from Galloway College, details regarding the Bell Tower and the famous print of the “Burning of the Mortgage”.

The large back west room pays honor to Harding’s presidents and Christian servants affiliated with the University. The display case in the back west room contains memorabilia from each of Harding’s five First Ladies.

The smaller west room is dedicated to the history of AWH, social clubs and campus life through the decades.

The smaller east room which features rotating exhibits currently is dedicated to honoring the contributions of each of Harding’s five First Ladies.

The garden housing the original Galloway Gates from Galloway College serve as the anchor at the south entrance. The gate is encircled by stone displaying Iris cultivated by the White County Iris Society.
