Phi Alpha Theta is a international,  professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students, teachers and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.
Eta Phi Chapter

Harding University is proud to sponsor the Eta Phi Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta.  This chapter received its charter in May 25, 1960.  The current sponsors of the club are Department Chair, Dr. Kevin Klein, and Asst. Professor, Dr. Julie Harris.  Professor Fred Jewell, Ph.D. is our sponsor emeritus. This local chapter holds many activities every semester, including a monthly meeting.  Other activities include trips to historical presentations and events, historical trivia matches, lectures, history versus Hollywood movie nights, and an historical banquet.
