Department of Communication restructured

A major academic reorganization was announced at Harding University in
April, naming Dr. Larry Long as provost, forming a provost council and
creating the College of Allied Health. Those changes also caused a
move for programs in communication.

The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program will be under the
College of Allied Health, while the Department of Communication will
make its home in the College of Arts and Humanities under the
supervision of Dean J. Warren Casey.

Chair of the department is Dr. Jack Shock, and President David B.
Burks has approved Dr. Jim Miller to be named director of the Mass
Communication Program and Dr. Pat Garner as director of the
Communication Studies Program. Instructor Ginger Blackstone, a former
executive producer for CNN, will be manager of Harding’s student
television station, Channel 16.

All changes are effective in August in time for the beginning of the
fall semester.
