New music department head appointed

Harding University President David B. Burks announced Wednesday
afternoon that Dr. Kelly Neill has been appointed chair of the
Department of Music effective immediately.

Neill, assistant professor of music, replaces Dr. J. Warren Casey who
recently accepted dual appointment as dean of the Honors College and
dean of the College of Arts and Humanities. Neill joined the Harding
faculty in 2004 and has proven to be an effective voice instructor and
choral director. He finished his doctoral work at University of
Missouri Conservatory of Music in 2006 and has served as the director
of the Harding University Concert Choir.

“I have enjoyed working with Dr. Neill in the past few years and am
confident he will lead the Department of Music effectively in the
years to come,” said Dr. Larry Long, Harding provost. “Although a
young professor, he is an energetic, thoughtful and talented Christian
leader — one who will serve our students and the department well.”
