Physician Assistant Program

The Physician Assistant Program is a 28-month graduate program leading to a Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Physician Assistant Studies.

As the first PA program in the state of Arkansas, we are very excited about the potential impact of this program on the local community, the people of Arkansas and worldwide mission fields.

The Harding University Physician Assistant Program has had 235 graduates since our inception in 2005. Program graduates are practicing throughout Arkansas and at least 15 other states in a variety of settings which include Primary Care, Urgent and Emergent Care, Orthopedic, Dermatology, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Rheumatology, Surgery specialties, Mental Health, Urology, and Pediatrics.

Forbes has listed the PA profession and one of the top ten most promising jobs of 2015!

This is such an exciting time for our students.

  • Class of 2014: Thirty-four PA students graduated in December with a special hooding ceremony celebrated with family and friends followed by commencement. They have now scattered to their new homes to impact many new lives. We expect great things from this class as they practice in areas from primary care, mental health, ENT to touching lives dealing with heart transplants. 100% pass rate on the PANCE. Way to go everyone! These graduates have a sense of humor. They now think maybe they should be known as "Class of 100%" and some are asking if we would now like to help subsidize their school loans (we regretfully decline).
  • Class of 2015: After a short Christmas break these students are back on their clinical rotations. Working with providers throughout the state of AR to provide care to hundreds of patients during this high time of illness and learning from some of the best teachers in the state.
  • Class of 2016: These students had an extra long break this year so I'm sure they are excited (well maybe) to be back together and begin their spring studies. We have a full semester planned for them in preparation to become some of the best PA providers possible - knowing that will take total commitment on their part, but that is the type of students they are!

We have currently offered a student position to ALTERNATE # 7

In the unlikely event of loss of accreditation and/or closure of a program, the University is committed to teaching out all currently matriculated students, including those in the PA Program. This may involve allowing them to complete their education at Harding University or assisting them in enrolling in an accredited program in which they can continue their education.
