Physician Assistant Program
Welcome to the information site for the Physician Assistant Program. This is a 28-month graduate program leading to a Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Physician Assistant Studies.
This is the first PA program in the state of Arkansas. At Harding we are very excited about the potential impact of this program on the local community, the people of Arkansas, and worldwide mission fields.
The Harding University Physician Assistant Program has had 200 graduates since our inception in 2005. Program graduates are practicing throughout Arkansas and at least 15 other states in a variety of settings which include Primary Care, Urgent and Emergent Care, Orthopedic, Dermatology, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Rheumatology, Surgery specialties, Mental Health, Urology, and Pediatrics.
This is such an exciting time for our students.
- Class of 2014: July is here! That means there are only 5 more months of clinical rotations for the students of this class. They are beginning to talk about jobs, where they are looking, what they are looking for and who they are talking with. It is hard to believe that only a sort time ago (at least from our perspective) they were as "green" in the medical realm as this incoming class which will be starting soon in August. The patients they have already seen and the lives they have impacted are great - and their careers as PAs have yet to really begin. God has great things in store for this class.
- Class of 2015: I don't have the count, (but I bet they do), of how many more weeks are left in the classroom portion of the Program. What a change is about to take place in their worlds. No longer will they work together as a co-hort body to learn and solve all of the medical issues they are presented with, but now each one will embark on their individual clinical rotations, relying on the information they have put to memory and learning volumes more. This is such an exciting time for this class.
- Class of 2016: August will be here soon and they will arrive in our building excited and ready to get busy. It won't be long until that wonderment changes to a "What have I done?" feeling, but we will all work together to make it as a team!
A Student Position for the Class of 2016 has currently been offered to Alternate # 15

In the unlikely event of loss of accreditation and/or closure of a program, the University is committed to teaching out all currently matriculated students, including those in the PA Program. This may involve allowing them to complete their education at Harding University or assisting them in enrolling in an accredited program in which they can continue their education.
The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued to the Harding University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Harding University. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards.
Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be September 2014. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.
