Physician Assistant Program
Welcome to the information site for the Physician Assistant Program. This is a 28-month graduate program leading to a Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Physician Assistant Studies.
This is the first PA program in the state of Arkansas. At Harding we are very excited about the potential impact of this program on the local community, the people of Arkansas, and worldwide mission fields.
The Harding University Physician Assistant Program has had 200 graduates since our inception in 2005. Program graduates are practicing throughout Arkansas and at least 15 other states in a variety of settings which include Primary Care, Urgent and Emergent Care, Orthopedic, Dermatology, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Rheumatology, Surgery specialties, Mental Health, Urology, and Pediatrics.
This is such an exciting time for our students.
- Class of 2014: Has just completed their 4th clinical rotation and is on to their 5th rotation on this Monday morning as I write. We are now starting to talk about graduation and job opportunities with them. Even though it is in the end of February, we know that mid-December will come quickly as they consider all the possibilities that lay before them. This past week was the first time they had come back together without their classmate Lauren and she was missed. We continue to rejoice in the legacy of Lauren’s life. Here is a sample of what she wrote prior to her death. Success.
- Class of 2015: What a joy to work with this class. They work hard in their studies to become competent, caring medical providers – and we see these attributes becoming stronger daily. They are a like-minded class who are encouragers to each other and to us as a faculty/staff. To ward off the winter blues we had a luau in the classroom at the end of our day last week. It was a good time of eating, silly games and laugher. Creating memories and building lasting relationships helps to ease the overwhelming responsibilities which are inherent in PA school.
A Student Position has currently been offered to Alternate # 7

In the unlikely event of loss of accreditation and/or closure of a program, the University is committed to teaching out all currently matriculated students, including those in the PA Program. This may involve allowing them to complete their education at Harding University or assisting them in enrolling in an accredited program in which they can continue their education.
The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued to the Harding University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Harding University. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards.
Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be September 2014. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.
